The 23rd Bassa Company of The Boys’ Brigade Nigeria has held its 2026 Annual Enrollment Service in Kissaloi, with national leaders using the event to call for a renewed moral direction among young people across the country.
Prof. Samson Duna, National President of the Brigade, said Nigeria’s future stability depends on raising boys who are disciplined, God‑fearing and committed to positive values. He noted that the Brigade’s training helps young people avoid vices such as stealing, drug abuse and banditry, which continue to affect communities nationwide.
“If you train a young boy, you are training a good leader of tomorrow,” he said, adding that the Brigade’s emphasis on discipline and Christian teaching remains vital for national development.
Duna also highlighted the Brigade’s role in community security, especially in churches where members screen vehicles, monitor visitors and support local vigilante groups to ensure safety.
Hon. Daniel Asama, Member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, described the Boys’ Brigade as a regimented institution that has shaped many Nigerians now serving in the police, military and other security agencies. He said the Brigade continues to support national security through intelligence gathering, crowd control and public safety duties.
“Government security outfits have been reaching out to the Boys’ Brigade… Boys get the best of training,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to remain cautious rather than fearful in the face of insecurity, stressing that discipline and vigilance are essential for national stability.
National Patron Paul Adara Adiwu, speaking during his investiture, charged members to remain “Sure and Steadfast” in a generation facing moral decline. He warned against social vices and the pursuit of quick wealth, urging boys to anchor their lives in Scripture and discipline.
“A single wrong choice in your youthful days can truncate a glorious future,” he said.
Adara pledged his support to the Brigade and encouraged members to be examples of purity, faith and responsible citizenship.
